Prickly Pear Creek

A few weeks ago we went for a long walk along Prickly Pear Creek.  Prickly Pear isn't far from our house, but we don't usually venture down there since we have a young child who is a runner.  Thankfully he's older now and understands not to get in the water, so we went for a walk and I took my camera along to collect references for future paintings.  Here's some of the pictures from that, and some things I've been working on lately.  We'll probably go back to Prickly Pear this weekend, now that the trees are starting to bud out.  Enjoy!

Tracks in the mud, under the water.  My husband says they're dog tracks, but I maintain they are the tracks of a river monster.

Water striders.  I made a video of them zooming around on top of this still, shallow part of the creek.  I'll try to upload it soon!

"Away With the Fae" and "Wood Nymphs".  I am almost done with Away, and I am working on painting "Wood Nymphs" now.  Both will be finished in oils.
